10 - No Barriers

Monday 

REN Film & Discussion - 20 minutes
REN is a short film created in collaboration with M Booth to tell the story of the No Barriers philosophy and mission in a uniquely captivating way. In this seven-minute animated film, a determined young fox, Ren, finds herself stranded and alone on an unfamiliar island far from home, and struggles to survive as she finds her way back to her family.
Erik Weihenmayer - 30 minutes
We are going to look at what barriers you put up for yourself. We are going to look at Erik Weihenmayer and what he has accomplished. He co-founded an organization called No Barriers. This week, we'll use some of their lessons to help you push through challenges in your life.
No Barriers Flags - 20 minutes
We will start the No Barriers Flag tradition.

Reach - 30 minutes
From Flags to Fire. Read this article about how a teacher pushed through with determination through a wildfire. Write a 150 word reflection. Turn in to Google Classroom. 

Teach Us Something Planning - 45 minutes
Use this time to prepare your lesson. Are you going to make a Google Slide along with your presentation. Your lesson should last at least 5 minutes. You will give the presentation next week during class. ​
​Meditation - 20 minutes
What if you are alone and lost in the wilderness? Can you survive your own thoughts, feelings, and emotions? We'll practice basic mindfulness to train our brain to remain calm in a chaotic environment.

Wednesday

​No Barriers 9 - 110 minutes
We'll finish the next set of modules today together.

  3. REACH: Preparing for New Challenges - 20 minutes
  4. REACH: Managing Stress - 20 minutes

  7. ROPE TEAM: Recognizing Others' Perspectives - 20 minutes​
  8. ROPE TEAM: Communicating Assertively - 20 minutes

Thursday

Rocky Mountain National Park Hike - All day
We will be going on a hike to Rocky Mountain National Park. There you will receive your Junior Ranger Book and your No Barriers flag. You will be divided into 2/3 groups. In addition to your Junior Ranger Book and flag, we will complete additional activities.
Phone Scavenger Hunt 
You will be required to take at least 10 pictures of the day. Pick from the following:
