DIY Shelters - HOMEWORK PROJECT DUE THURSDAY
What if you get caught in the backcountry? Do you have shelter? Would you know how to build one? We are going to practice building shelters this week. You will collect things from around the area and you will build a shelter on your own. Check Google Classroom for the Flipgrid link. You will record the shelter AS YOU BUILD IT at your own home. Hit pause in between your sections. Your video should be at least 5 minutes long.

Tents - 60 minutes
We will put some tents together to see what it is like. You should always practice putting up your tent PRIOR to using it for real. No one like to try to read instructions in the rain or late at night. Take a picture of the tent you put together and post a picture in Google Classroom.

CPR - 100 minutes
We will be practicing CPR and how to help someone who is choking. This is not for a certification but for informational purposes only. You will record yourself in a Flipgrid of doing at assessment and at least one minute of hands-only CPR. We will practice hands-only CPR, choking adult, choking children.
Make sure to include:

- Check the scene for safety
- Check response
- Tell someone to call 911 and bring you an AED
- Open airway and listen for breathing
- Not breathing - begin hands-only CPR for ONE MINUTE
- Play a song that has the CPR beat. Find one on YouTube.
- Ensure 2 hands center of chest, correct tempo (100 beats per minute), using full body and not arms. Arms locked, interlace fingers.
- Explain 5 reasons why you would stop. Signs of life, AED has arrived, scene unsafe, first responders arrive, too exhausted to continue.
